Peter Palfrey arrives in Salem.

Later called one of the “Four Old Planters,” he is made a freeman in 1631 and granted 200 acres of land in 1636. Palfrey dies in Reading in 1663. His descendants include William Palfrey, the first postmaster-general and aide-de-camp of Gen. Washington and John Gordon Palfrey, author and statesman.
